Christ-followers Control Their Passions

Matthew 5:21-22, 27-28

Jesus didn't come to simply change our behavior—He came to transform our hearts.

In this message from the Sermon on the Mount, Pastor Adam challenges us to look beyond outward actions and examine what is happening beneath the surface. Jesus reminds us that anger, lust, and every other sinful passion begin in the heart long before they become visible in our lives. That's why following Christ isn't about checking boxes or looking spiritual—it's about allowing the Holy Spirit to rule every part of who we are.

Too often we allow our passions to take the driver's seat, but God never intended for our emotions, desires, or struggles to lead us. As Pastor said, "God is not your co-pilot—He is the Pilot." When Jesus truly reigns in our hearts, everything else begins to fall into its proper place.

Discover the practical ABCs of Controlling Your Passions:

-Admit your problem to God.

-Build guardrails that protect your heart.

-Correct your route before you drift further away.

The question isn't simply, "What have you done?" It's, "Who is sitting on the throne of your heart?" Whatever has taken the place reserved for Jesus—whether it's anger, fear, pride, lust, bitterness, or something else—must surrender to Him. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ-followers can live with transformed hearts that reflect the Kingdom of God.
